“I am much better prepared…
I entered the Hope Recovery Program a very broken tired 66 year old alcoholic woman – I had been in multiple Treatment facilities and detoxes over my forty plus years of drinking-I also had 25 plus years of AA experience on and off over the years. My drinking escalated the two years previous to my arriving here. I retired from a forty six year nursing career in 2011 and the unstructured time coupled with some life problems escalated my ever progressing alcoholism.
I chose Hope Recovery Homes primarily because it is a faith based program and I knew that I needed a personal relationship with God to heal me from this devastating disease. Over the four months that I have been here I have learned much about the Bible, Myself and God. I feel as though I am much better prepared to face my disease and to continue on with my relationship with God. God is the answer for this alcoholic of of this I am quite sure! This program integrated all the much needed recovery pieces. The AA steps, the Bible, Church, and fellowship. And the needed combination to make Recovery possible!”

“My prayers began to be answered.…
Hello my name is Price I have been at Hope Recovery Homes for around forty-five days. When I first arrived I was very scared, hopeless, lonely, anxious the list goes on and on. I had lost my job, my vehicle, my family and life seemed very hopeless. However, slowly but surely I turned my life over to the will of God. And in doing so my prayers began to be answered.
My wife told me that if I completed the program she would allow me to come home and she brings the children to see me. My sense of anxiety and hopelessness has slipped away. I was able to see a very good doctor who has me on some non-narcotic medication which seems to be helping. So I can only speak for myself but with my renewed faith and the program of recovery faith and the program of recovery at Hope Recovery Homes, my life looks like it will become manageable to me.”
“I’ll always be grateful…
I’ve been a transient since 1998 which, in my case, means I’ve been totally hopeless these past 16 years and pretty much thought my life was over. I’ve been living either on the street (outside) or in detox and short term rehabs. It was a trip to Walter B. Jones in January of this year that got me to Hope Recovery Homes. I went to Walter B. to get off the street for a couple of weeks, do laundry and get some food in my stomach like I had done many times but ended up staying for 35 days. We had a cold, icy winter in eastern NC and I knew that I couldn’t go back to the tent I was living in so the social worker at Walter B. Jones suggested Hope Recovery. I grudgingly agreed but had no real thought of changing and I thought I could come here and blend into the woodwork and just kind of “skate”. I was wrong. This has been a very painful experience but it’s one I know I’ll always be grateful for. I was living by self-propulsion before I got here and failing miserably. This has been a process of “ego-puncturing” for me and this has been what’s made it painful. I can now see, at 106 days sober, that the payoff for this painful process is something totally priceless.”

“Slowly I began to change…
I came to N.C. spiritually bankrupt, and prepared to drink myself to death. After weeks of 24 hour a day consumption, I found myself at Walter B Jones detox center. I had no idea what I was doing in N.C., but I knew I needed a long term recovery. I found Hope Recovery Homes in one of the many hand outs I was given at WBJ. It said faith based recovery, which was probably the only thing I had never tried before. I was pretty sure faith based was not for me, but I was desperate and now I thank God for that decision. In this program slowly I began to change. I now know that God walks with me everyday, because faith is not believing but it is knowing!!! Hope Recovery Homes has given me a chance to know. I am grateful for all the lessons I have acquired here. All the faith based teachings as well as just how to live my life better on a day to day basis. I learned how to respect myself and my peers. Most of all I learned how to have a relationship with God again, and for that I will be forever grateful!!”
“I found the missing link…
When I came to Hope Recovery, I was a broken person. I had tried to stop before, even had been to treatment twice already. There was more to my illness than just alcoholism that needed healing. Even though I’d been religious all my life, there was still something missing in my spirit. At Hope Recovery, I found the missing link in my relationship with Jesus. I left Hope Recovery with more peace and hope than I’d felt in many long years.”

“Now I am grounded…
Before making my way into this life saving program my life was out of control. I was living in a downward spiral. I didn’t have a single healthy relationship at the time. Since the month I have spent learning how to live a clean sober functioning life. I have a great relationship with my parents that I wouldn’t trade for the world. Spend every day learning in the word of God with a sound structured environment that I desperately needed. I will take the skills I am learning every day and use them to stay away from drugs and alcohol. Without my new faith in the lord I would be completely lost in this world. Now I am grounded in the lord and my sides hurt from laughing. Truly happy from head to toe.”
