Women’s shelter celebrates first year

MOREHEAD CITY — It’s been one year since Hope Mission opened the doors of its women’s shelter and the facility has already provided temporary housing to 60 women.

“I’m very proud of the people who have come here, with many getting their lives back on the road to becoming a productive citizen,” Director Terry Mace said Wednesday. “I’m also glad that I can share the love of Christ with them.”

The house officially opened its doors Feb. 2, 2018, to offer shelter to women who have faced various crises in their lives that have led to homelessness. The home can serve six women at a time.
